I haven't raved too much about my new computer.  Probably because I had problems initially and that kind of took the bloom off the rose, so to speak.

I must pause, today, however and say:  WOh-huh-hOW!  (that's WOW, kinda stretched out).  It. Is. Amazing.  4 times more RAM and a faster processor makes all the difference in the world when you are running the kind of software I am.

:)

Meg

P.S. Spent the morning cleaning and as my reward I get to a.) go see A's egg drop and Easter party at school, and b.) go pick up my mom and stepdad from the airport.  The only thing missing from my day is any sense of the holiness and somber tone of Good Friday.  I wish our kids got it off, but I know there are not many people around here who observe it.  And here I am, a person who generally observes it, running around like a headless chicken.  Must. Slow. Down.

I spent a fabulous weekend away on a church retreat in the Santa Cruz Mountains.  Saturday I had a retreat within a retreat and got an hour-long massage and went to my favorite restaurant (food-wise--not total experience-wise) in the world (Gayle's in Capitola).
Then, my hubby phoned to say, "Stay as long as you want.  The boys and I are staying at Mom and Dad's for dinner.  I thought you might want to have fun with your new laptop, which arrived while you were gone."

SQUEE.

What a man.  One of the many ways it pays to be married to a total geek is that he can appreciate my inner geek and understand that I would want to play with my new baby.

Only drawback of the whole thing is that the playing did not get that far or go that well.

But, later, when my own personal IT department came home, he helped me amid my tears to get things going in the right direction.  It was probably just a battery issue and maybe also a McAfee issue that were slowing down and eventually making impossible the install of Adobe Creative Suite (the battery had accidentally come unplugged).

I also had Gayle's day-old, half-price wedding cake for dinner (real banana with real strawberry ganache).

Today I had to pick up the printer and extra screen at UPS in another town--one exit past the closest-but-still-too-far-to-go-much Whole Foods.  Yes, of course I stopped on the way back.  Yummmmmm...

All in all, a very spiritually refreshing, personally relaxing and professionally/geekitudinally exciting weekend.

Sorry I didn't comment on your many entries, but like Maria I read them and: S, your kids owe you big and I'm glad about Eunice; AI, so great to hear about the challenge; Flat Stanley, I'll be waiting for you but please don't bring your gun; I know I read about more, but my mind is, unsurprisingly, a blank at the moment.

I'm leaving today for a weekend retreat after my 3 pm class.  Before that, my p.m. is filled with picking up and dropping off kids.  There is very little chance I will be home to get my new baby--and if I'm not I will have to go to the UPS hub about 25 minutes away next week to pick it all up.  (The extra monitor and the printer are waiting there already.)

V. sad.

There is still a teeny bit of hope that the UPS person will come when I'm here, but all other deliveries were right when my kids need to be picked up from school, which is the time my class starts too.

Still and all, it's wonderful to know my new treat is coming so soon.  I couldn't do anything with it on the retreat anyway--wouldn't want to at least.  One does not go to "get away from it all" and "spend time with God in God's creation" and bring one's new laptop, does one?  (I might be tempted, so it's probably a good thing I won't be here, right?)

I hope all my flisters have a great weekend.

I'll "see" you Sunday night.

...8 days early.  Is this a tease or will my whole computer be here before it was even supposed to ship???

Anyone want to make a bet.

(Sorry for the ellipses, Al.)
